Starlet harlot pattern for my new vintage chair

October 20, 2008

Pinup pattern

I just made this pattern of starlet harlots based on Ava Gardner, Claudette Colbert and some others. It’s reminiscent of these other patterns I made last April:

knockouts

I got a Danish modern vintage chair at a Brooklyn Flea market a couple weekends back. I want to re-upholster it with my own design. Gonna use Spoonflower.com of course. I’ll show you before and after pictures but I have not even ordered the fabric so it may take a few weeks.

I suppose when it’s reupholstered you could say you are sitting on a “dirty” chair. Get it?

Sorry we couldn’t have talked more Saturday! It was kind of a loud environment for conversation:) We’ll have to meet up again with our menfolk this time.

Fabric based on Claudette Colbert (and is that Hayworth?) is all I need to hear. Whatever it’s used for, it will rock.

That is beautiful! I’ve been wanting to do the spoonflower thing for a while now, but haven’t had the chance yet. This is definitely some inspiration!

Ambika, you have a good eye! I think it is Hayworth. I printed so much reference I’m having trouble remembering everyone on there. I modified them so they’re not portraits per se just evocative of the starlets themselves.

I’m going to reupholser a chair with it!
