Newly reupholstered chair: pin-up fabric printed by Spoonflower

I regret not taking a “before” photo of this Danish modern chair I purchased at a Brooklyn flea market a couple of months ago ($80- booyah!). The fabric was ratty and hideous but I knew that I was going to have it reupholstered with my own print in a matter of time. I had just completed this design for Craft Magazine that was printed for a feature on Spoonflower so I contacted them about printing up my pin-up/starlot design for me.

They are not officially doing upholstery weight fabric yet but happened to have canvas laying around in the yardage I needed. I can’t believe how accessible they are and willing to work with artist requests. I spoke with Stephen Fraser who talked me through the process of uploading my fabric. Then I had a tailor cover the old cushions with my new design of starlots. I even had them add trim. I love the way it looks now. I actually planned the colorway to go with my walls and the painting I did of my dear friend. I’m really excited to use Spoonflower again soon. I have a trade show coming up so I better get going with my next order!
