My husband sent me This video by a French-Canadian photo journalist, it’s making the rounds on the web this week. I love OPB, or “other people’s babies” as he likes to call them. We’re excited to have our own someday. I can’t get the song out of my head, it’s “Ensemble” by French Canadian band “Coeur de Pirate“.

Love book: 40 pages of incredible art & writing on love by 25 artists (perfect for V-day)

LOVE contribution
Cover of Love book

I’m excited to share an art book on “Love” with you. I asked 25 artists & writers—each with a distinct style and voice—to submit a piece inspired by their idea of love (sneak peek below), and then I published them as a book on blurb, a print-on-demand website. The contributing artists hail from around the world. I knew that each one’s interpretation of love would be singular, but with some profound similarities.

Love is the ideal subject for artists to interpret. We all love, but everyone defines love differently in their minds and hearts. We all love differently and the same. We are connected through love and art.

Love is available through blurb for $16.95 for a softcover, $25.95 for a hardcover with a dust jacket, and $27.95 for hardcover with “image wrap.” It contains 40 pages of incredible art including a couple of pages of amazing writing.

Enjoy the book as eye candy or give it as a gift to a loved one, just in time for V-day. If you’d like to share this book with your blog readers feel free to share the link:

Tyler Bender Journals with my designs on them

Tyler Bender journals with my designs

This week is the culmination of many fun collaborative projects I’ve been working on with some fabulous artists/friends. I’ll be revealing them all in the next few days.

One collaboration that I’m excited to post today is with the talented book-maker Tyler Bender. I’ve been enamoured with his work since I first saw it. Tyler takes vintage books he finds at flea markets and garage sales and remakes them into fabulous journals using a variety of papers from lined, to manila, to graph….etc.

Recently he took some of my designs and made them into these precious journals that I used here. I’m so thrilled with them. I don’t want to reveal too much, too soon, but Tyler and I have something in the works for you!! So if you like these journals stay tuned for more…..soon.

*Read my interview with Tyler and a recent post about his updated etsy shop. For real halcyon memories, here’s one of my first posts ever on Maquette where I mention Tyler’s journals.

Treatzone got my week off to a super start with this extremely warm post about my work. Thanks Sandy & Matthew!

More beards and moustaches + old timey men’s bathing suits that match them

World Championships Beard and moustache

old timey men's bathing suits

After my beard is the new moustache post the other day, one of my lovely readers, Elisabeth scooped me! Boy, what a scoop. Just look at these photos by Luke Stephenson on flickr from the world championship. These guys are very serious about their facial hair.

The guy on the top right needs to get some swim trunks like these old timey ones.

Don’t ask me why I’ve gone from posting frilly frocks, and sorbet color palettes to men’s facial hair and vintage bathing suits. Here’s more men’s swimwear from the olden days.
