Fall Jackets of my dreams

Coats

I am in need of a new autumn coat. I won’t buy one till after the baby comes as I’ll want to try it on for size and right now with a big ol’ baby in my belly, I’m not exactly my usual self.

I have my eye on these beauties because of their special details: Kate Spade’s fabulous bright color and big buttons, Nanette Lepore’s military shape and cool rivets & Marc Jacob’s cool navy blue puffer with the perfect built in scarf. Do you have a favorite? I saw a great Rebecca Taylor coat the other day but can’t locate it online. I’ll keep searching. For now, here’s where you can get these beauts:

  1. Kate Spade: Beacon Hill Deborah Pea Coat
  2. Nanette Lepore: Party Girl Coat
  3. Marc Jacobs: Puffer Coat

My fabric design/chair in Bust Magazine

If you are an avid Maquette reader, you know I’m a big fan of Spoonflower (a custom fabric printing on demand company founded by a husband and wife team). I’ve had a bunch of stuff printed by them such as:

  1. Fabric for hand bound journal collaboration with Tyler Bender
  2. My custom print for Craft Magazine (here’s the article about that)
  3. And for my home, this pin-up print fabric to reupholster a chair

Now Bust Magazine is telling their readers about Spoonflower. They came over to shoot the chair this summer, we had a fun time trying to keep my dog out of the picture. The article is in their latest issue. Check it out online or from your news stand.

Juergen Teller “Paradis”

Juergen Teller

I love Juergen Teller’s naturalistic photography for Marc Jacobs and celebrities like Bjork (eating black spaghetti). His current exhibit at Lehmann Maupin entitled  “Paradis” was originally commissioned for the French magazine, Paradis. The first set of images above is from the exhibition, the following images are of the subjects: Charlotte Rampling and Raquel Zimmerman. Below is more info on the show.

Juergen Teller2

“Blurring the distinction between his commercial and non-commercial work, Teller takes a story-telling approach to this series, in which he revisits two of his previous subjects – Charlotte Rampling and Raquel Zimmermann. Shot alone one evening at the Musee du Louvre in Paris, this nude study features large-scale photographs of the two women as they move amongst the masterpieces housed in the museum and captures the intimacy between photographer and subject. The women’s lack of vanity is revealed as they are shot at an uncomfortable proximity, blending their bodies with Classical statues and standing before Leonardo’s Mona Lisa. Teller removes the artifice between photographer and subject, leaving only the purity of each image, and unlike the sculptures in the museum’s collection, his photographs do not present a standard of beauty but are more akin to a tribute to women and the human form.”

I did this illustration (click here to see it more closely) for the latest issue of Mankind Magazine to accompany “A Day in the Life of a Hipster”. Get your Mankind Mag here, it may be the last issue.

I’m signing off a day early for the weekend. We’ve been so busy around here, working and getting ready for baby. This weekend we’re staying local, going to brunch, maybe taking a trip up to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, taking a baby CPR class here in Brooklyn and just nesting in our little apt.

Hope you have something nice planned for your weekend. XOX.
