Happy almost Halloween!

Vintage Halloween

I am so thrilled that I had my little baby at this time in October. Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday. This year he may be a bit to small to dress up. I mean he weighs less than a pumpkin. Next year I’ll make him a cool costume.

Thanks to Bowie of Print & Pattern blog and Liana of Mixed Plate for posting my free Halloween cards. They’re available here. Oh and Jen of Indie Fixx for including the link to them in her spooooky round-up.

We have so many adorable photos of Henry to sort through this weekend between feedings and naps of course! I will post them Monday.

Baby Henry has arrived!!!!

Henry Announcement!

There’s been a few day lull here on Maquette cause I was busy having a baby! As promised, I have lots of guest posts lined up + posts I made in advance. I’ll also share some photos of our little muffin tomorrow.

Love to you all dear readers! I made this little birth announcement to send to friends and family so I thought I’d share it here today before the little guy wakes up from his nap!

Henry was born on October 26th at 10:28pm after over 26 hours of labor. He was 7 lbs and 12 ozs.

I’m having a baby this week

Pregnancy Growth Chart

He’s due on Thursday. I just wanted to let you know that Maquette will stay in full swing. I have a slew of posts lined up some from amazing blogger friends. So stay tuned!

We’ve been documenting my pregnancy throughout and decided to make this chart to see how my belly grew. I really started showing around week 16. My belly got giant between week 35 and now.

Sketch Book Pages

I don’t always use an official sketchbook. Sometime I just do my drawings on bristol paper or aged newsprint with pen or watercolor and then scan and make them into vignettes, or do them all on one paper and arrange them into illustrations or patterns. Just thought it would be fun to show you some “raw” drawings. That’s what I call them before they morph into final pieces.

I updated the a drawing a day section of my site and put lots of drawings I’ve never shared. Trying to get little tasks like scanning work done before baby arrives. One week to go.

Trick-Or-Treatzone: Halloween themed art show

Treatzone show

TREATZONE! Very Treatworthy.

The Trick-or-Treatzone show just opened (reception Friday, 10/23) at the Curiosity Shoppe. The work is all Halloween-inspired and includes: a series of limited edition gocco prints  on vintage textbook pages called “My Favorite Monster”, featuring silhouettes of the likes of Wolfman, Nosferatu, Godzilla, Frankenstein (or Frank, as they call him), and his Bride; “Ghosts of Our Past”, a collection of paintings featuring charming and mischievous ghosts on vintage postcards in vintage frames; and “Autumn’s Epigrams”, a collection of somewhat chilling phrases printed on assorted patterned papers. Plus, two large ink and watercolor illustrations installed in the shoppe’s windows: “Giant Monster Takes San Francisco”, and the Ed Emberley-inspired “How To Draw A Pirate Cat in 6 Easy Steps”.

yay Treatzone. I love Halloween (I’m craving peanut M&M’s as we speak)!

Exhibit: October 20 – November 22, 2009
The Curiosity Shoppe, 855 Valencia Street, SF (if you are there please go see so I can live vicariously through you)
