“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.”
Autumn is in the air. I could not be more thrilled. I had baby Vivian 2.5 weeks ago and already she’s growing into a sweet little cherub. I can’t wait to take her on crisp strolls through the park. I’m supposed to take it easy for the next few weeks to recover from my c-section but I’m already feeling pretty good. I look forward to picking up jogging again. I’m sure I’m in the worst shape ever but I love a good jog on a cool day. Luckily fall is the perfect season for cozy layering (to hide everything you want hidden ; ) ). I look forward to pulling out my trench coat, fisherman’s sweater, a felt hat and suade booties and sauntering through crunchy leaves.
I’ve been illustrating The Paris Review this year alongside the serialization of a novel by Rachel Cusk. Issues 207, 208, 209 came out and 210 just hit shelves completing the serial. This illustration for 207 will be published in American Illustration 33. And 5 more images from the series will be published by Creative Review. Here are a selection of images from issue 210. Grab the issue now, with a great autumnal cover by Chris Ware.
Sorry for the lack of posts as of late, I was busy having a baby! Seriously. Vivian Lew is now almost a week old.
It was exciting to come home with her and get loads of texts from friends and my agent who attended the fabulous Lela Rose Spring 2015 Show at Lincoln Center Pavilion. Lela asked me to illustrate the backgrounds (honored!). I also illustrated the invitation and a fun little give-away recipe card guests of the show received. I’m enamored with Lela’s incredible textures and cuts. Prior to creating the art for the backgrounds I visited Lela’s showroom and got a close look at everything. There is magic in her details. What a breathtaking collection!
Check out the time lapse video of the finale my agent shot:
