Paris Fashion Week: Comme des Garçons

Comme Des Garcons

After doing about a billion illustrations for the CFDA during New York Fashion Week I thought I’d just take a peek here and there at Paris Fashion Week but this collection by Rei Kawakubo for Comme des Garçons kind of blew my mind. Some cloths are for wearing and some are for the museum. It is at once art and magic.

Rei Kawakubo created a collection based on a “Blue Witch”, as Vogue says “a spellbound and bewitched creature with flaming hair, wrapped in an elaborate fabric and feather cocoon that makes her similar to a magical and poetical winged creature or to the totem of an exotic and unintelligible culture: the image lingers long in the memory like the unforgettable stories of a fairy-tale book”.

The colors were totally incredible and the shapes, proportions and textures eye catching to say the least.
